You may want to proceed carefully when ordering video from Europe.
Most of Europe is on the PAL system and we (in the US) are on NTSC. They
are *INCOMPATIBLE* and VCRs that play/record both formats are very, very
expensive (over US $1,000). If this person is able to record in NTSC - dandy,
otherwise you may find yourself with a really bazaar paperweight.

I used to work at a camera/video store and this problem between the
three formats (NTSC, PAL, and SECAM) were always a confusing issue for the
public. Please make sure the format you get is compatible with what you
need. If you are unsure of what you need, look on the back of your VCR or
in your manual (which I'm sure everyone has kept in a safe place). It should
mention one of the three formats. In some parts of Europe there are TVs and
such that switch between PAL and SECAM (spelling?), but in America, this
format switching is rare and, of course, expensive.

Good luck to all....
