This is how I understand S & B's links to The Cure (all of this
info obtained through the Rolling Stone Album Guide). Apparently
The Cure was directly inspired by "The Scream," as a matter of fact
the Guide calls her "the Godmother of Mope" (this title I am a
little bit unsure of).

Then in 1983 Robert Smith came aboard the Banshee's ship to perform
on the tour which was documented on "Nocturne." His stay lasted
through the next album ("Hyaena" 1984) where (and I'm not kidding,
this is what it says) "his surprisingly disciplined influence can
be felt on 'Hyaena's' best cuts."

I guess it was kind of a mentor relationship between the two,
I don't know. That's all I could find.

P.S. I don't always agree with the album guide (especially when
it comes to Siouxsie), but it is a valuable and interesting
investment, especially if you appreciate critics opinions,
as many don't.
