Gothic International Club Listing Midian

Midian
at Asylum

When :Every last Wednesday of the month
Where :2471 18th St. NW, Washington, DC
Observations :Run by DJ Panic, Miko LeStrange, Erin and Miss Synesthesia, the upstairs of Asylum is devoted to the Midian crowd with a small dance area & lots of seating, great bartenders & there's a small fetish photo exhibit currently. Music varies from punk to EBM, stompy industrial to 80's and synthpop, ect. Downstairs has pool tables and is nearly all locals or the otherwise 'non-goth' crowd with 'non-goth' music. Most of Midian's club-goers don't seem to venture to the downstairs (the drunken locals may comment at pretty girls). The atmosphere at Midian is very laid-back weather you're a regular or it's your first time there, you'll feel welcome. A photo of about half of the space Midian occupies in Asylum's upstairs can be found HERE. The DJ booth is to the left of the photo and the bar, bathrooms and other seating is located behind where the photo was taken.
DJs :DJ Panic, DJ Miko LeStrange, Guest DJs and usually live bands
Cover :$5 unless otherwise noted on the Midian site
Door Policy :21+ with valid ID. No dress code, usually 'relaxed', not a fashion show.
Drinks :Happy Hour is Monday - Friday 5 until 8pm which means $2-$4 beers, $4 rails and $4 for wine. Prices don't seem to go up much after 8pm. Asylum offers food, vegan, vegetarian and meat options. Everything from hummus appetizers to a 9oz. NY strip steak.
Directions :- From the red line metro stop at Adams Morgan/ Woodley Park Zoo walk across the street and to the right, go 1 or 2 blocks to Calvert St. and walk to the left. From there it's nearly a straight shot until you see Asylum to the left on the main stretch of 18th St. It's a good 15 minute walk or so. Remember this is a Wednesday and metro in DC closes at 12am. This passes through a residential area for a short period of time but hasn't proven to be unsafe in my experience of walking alone on occasion. - Cabbing or driving is definately your best bet if you live in a close surrounding area to Adams Morgan DC where Asylum is located. Paralell parking is all over but it can be a pain to get a spot. There's a parking garage about 2 blocks from Asylum that is very secure. Larger trucks will NOT fit down the slope into this garage however. You can ALWAYS get a cab right outside from Asylum without having to wait. -It's possible to take the bus.
